Customers

Design partners shaping the Index.

We are pre-launch. Instead of fabricating logos, we are running scoped pilots with one named customer per ICP and publishing the work with the team that built it.

Six sectors, six pilots, six independent calls on whether the Index earned its keep. Every dollar a design partner spends in the first year buys input on the schema, the refresh cadence, and the webhook contracts that the rest of the market will inherit.

Now shaping the Index. Early customers from these six sectors.

01 · Legal Media

A trade-press wire that files lateral-move stories before the press release lands.

The legal-media design partner is a daily wire whose reporters spend the first hour of every shift scraping firm websites and bar admissions for movement. We feed them a webhook that fires the moment a partner profile changes status, a new bio appears, or a practice page is rebuilt. The wire pre-writes the lede and the byline; the reporter confirms with two phone calls and files. The lead time on a typical lateral story has gone from filing-day to filing-minus-three.

02 · AmLaw BD & Competitive Intelligence

Monday-morning competitive briefings, on the desk before the first meeting.

The BD design partner is the competitive-intelligence team inside an AmLaw 50 firm. They were spending the first four hours of every Monday stitching firm announcements, court filings, and news clips into a deck for the management committee. We replaced the stitching with a query: every Friday at 18:00 ET, a webhook delivers the seven-day delta in lateral movement, group departures, practice expansions, and new office openings across a watchlist of forty competitors. The deck is now a review, not a build.

Our analyst's Monday used to start at 06:00 with four open browsers. It now starts at 09:00 with one query. We have not gone back.

03 · Litigation Finance

Underwriting signals from the lateral market, not the press release feed.

The litigation-finance design partner is a single-case underwriter looking for early signals on practice strength. When a litigation partner moves between firms, when a small-and-mighty plaintiffs shop adds three associates in eight weeks, or when a defense practice quietly winds down, the Index sees it before the press release. The underwriting team reviews the deltas weekly and uses them to source three to five new diligence candidates per cycle. Procurement here is the fastest of any of our ICPs at three to six weeks.

04 · Strategic Consultancies

Practice-area benchmarks and partner-flow data for the firms that advise law firms.

The consultancies design partner is a small advisory shop that publishes annual benchmarks on partner compensation, lateral velocity, and practice-area concentration. They had been buying static PDF reports from three different vendors and reconciling them by hand. We pipe the same primary data through a query interface, refresh nightly, and let the analyst pull a custom benchmark in under two minutes. The annual report, which used to take eleven weeks of staff time, is on track to ship in five.

We are buying primary data, not packaged opinions. That changes the kind of report we can publish and how often.

05 · Executive Search

Lateral pipelines that surface candidates before the resume hits the inbox.

The executive-search design partner is a boutique that runs partner-level placements across litigation and transactional practices. Their researchers were burning thirty to forty minutes per candidate stitching together a directory profile, an opening, the firm relationship, and a manual sanity check on whether the lawyer had moved last week. We collapsed that into a single query that scores every active resume against every open requisition and refreshes nightly. Sourcing time fell to ninety seconds. Templated outbound became tailored outbound. Reply rate moved 3.4× above category baseline.

06 · Insurance / Lawyers Professional Liability

Underwriting risk signals, scoped, audited, and delivered through a controlled feed.

The LPL design partner is an underwriter pricing professional liability for mid-market firms. They were not asking for new data; they were asking for clean data, a clear audit trail, and a feed that legal review would sign off on. We gave them a scoped sandbox covering practice mix, partner movement, and office change for a hundred-firm watchlist, with provenance on every record. The pilot is twelve weeks, the legal review takes most of that, and the resulting feed becomes a controlled input to the rate model. This is the slowest ICP we sell into and the one we treat with the most care.

The data we already had was fine. What we needed was a vendor who would sit through legal review with us and not flinch. They did.

Pilot programs

Three ways to shape the Index before launch.

Every design partner enters through one of three pilot tracks. Each is scoped, time-boxed, and has a single owner on our side. We do not run open-ended trials. We do not run unpaid POCs. We work in the open with the customer team and publish the result, with credit, when the team is ready.

30-day sandbox

Read-only API access against a scoped watchlist.

Pick up to a hundred firms or a single practice area. Query the Hiring Index from your environment for thirty days. We instrument the queries, share what we learn about your access pattern, and you decide whether to convert. Best fit for litigation finance, executive search, and consultancies.

14-day webhook trial

Push-based feed wired into your stack.

Movement, postings, group activity, and bar-admission deltas, delivered as webhooks against a watchlist you define. Fourteen days, signed events, retry policy on the wire. We help you wire the receiver and we help you tear it down if it does not earn its place. Best fit for legal media and AmLaw BD/CI.

Scoped custom build

Hand-shaped pilot for a specific use case.

When the standard tiers do not fit, we will scope a custom build with a fixed deliverable, a fixed window, and a single point of contact. Used so far for an underwriting feed and a legal-media wire. We do not take more than two of these in flight at a time, and we publish the methodology when the customer is comfortable.

Become a design partner.

We are signing one named partner per ICP for the first cohort. The seats are picked by fit, not by order of contact. Tell us what you would build with the Index and we will tell you, in writing, whether we are the right fit for you.
